Jose* spent years in his career as a shoe designer....
“The first time I made the trip to the city, to teach at the indigenous seminary, my family had to ride in the back of a heavily loaded cargo truck for 14 hours, after several days by boat. The entire day on the truck I had to hold back a heavy box to keep it from falling on my family. I prayed, ‘God, if this is what You’re calling me to do, please provide a different way to travel.’ Families that are coming for the Bible course next year, they cannot choose the boat or truck to bring their families.”
“For the current one-year Bible course, four couples came by canoe. Newborn babies made this trip, which took 8 days nonstop. The families traveled day and night, exposed to the sun and rain. There was no room to lay down, so they slept sitting up, resting their heads on their hands.”
More and more of our missionaries are like Mr. Julho, dedicated to the work, but without the financial means to pay for flights.
